JOB VACANCY - CRANE ENGINEERING SURVEYOR
DURATION : Twelve (12) months + extendable for every Twelve (12) months

AVAILABILITY : IMMEDIATE
(a) Qualification:
• Minimum of Degree in Mechanical/Civil/Material Engineering or equivalent and the proposed surveyor must be working with a company approved by DOSH for inspection and certification of lifting equipment.
• Possess at least THREE (3) years experiences or more in the above field.
• Deemed competent as per API RP 2C and API RP 2D or equivalent i.e. must have attended training on offshore crane inspection.
OR
• Minimum of Diploma in Mechanical/Civil/Material Engineering or equivalent and the proposed surveyor must be working with a company approved by DOSH for inspection and certification of lifting equipment.
• Possess at least FIVE (5) years experiences or more in the above field.
• Deemed competent as per API RP 2C and API RP 2D or equivalent i.e. must have attended training on offshore crane inspection.

(b) Attributes:
i. Have a sound knowledge of International Standards and codes relating to oil industry structures, pipelines, pressure vessels and process facilities e.g. ASME VIII & IX, ASME /ANSI B31. 3, AWS D1.1, API 1104, API 510, API 570, API 650 and API 653, ASTM, SSPC 5 & 10, BGES/P2, Swedish Standard and NACE specifications for painting and good knowledge of approved international (ASME, API, BS, etc.) and applicable national (DOSH) codes.
ii. Have a good working knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technique.
iii. Have demonstrated competence in technical report writing, technical presentation and the ability to perform work with a high degree of initiative.
iv. Good command in both written and spoken languages i.e. Malay and English.

(c) Duties and responsibilities:
i. To provide statutory equipment inspection and certification services of statutory and other equipment onshore and offshore (details to be notified).
ii. To provide suitably qualified and experienced personnel and all MATERIALS and EQUIPMENT for the sole purpose of providing expert engineering survey and certification services (details to be notified).
iii. The SERVICES to be carried out shall include but not limited to the inspection, certification and report of:
• Cranes and other lifting appliances
• Lifting Equipments
• Survival crafts
• (details to be notified).
iv. Ensure thorough visual inspection and supplemented by conventional NDTs are conducted to ascertain safety and technical integrity of Registered Equipment in accordance with Factory & Machinery Act 1967, subsequent Regulations and applicable the client’s specifications at onshore and offshore locations (details to be notified).
v. Assist Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) inspector during the inspection as required.
vi. Issue examination reports which certify that the equipment has been inspected and state the conditions and specify concisely if repairs are required to maintain the existing design conditions and state of fitness for use of the inspected equipment. The report will form a documented evidence for client to apply for Certificate of Fitness from Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) of Malaysia when applicable.
vii. Review and approve repair procedures and subsequently witness all tests pertaining to these repairs. Repair in this context refers to rectification activities to restore the equipment to maximum and permissible working conditions such as pressure, temperature and Safe Working Load (SWL).
viii. Perform basic design calculation checks to ascertain technical integrity of inspected equipment. These calculations will form basis for further detail assessments and analysis of condition of inspected equipment.
ix. Provide advice on legal and technical matters pertaining to registered equipment in relation to National regulations and the existing client’s specifications (details to be notified).
x. Perform inspection on slings, loose lifting tackles and Lifting Equipments. Witness necessary tests such as proof load test when necessary.
